ROUND TABLE DIALOGUE ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 8TH MARCH 2021
The International Women’s Day is an annual event, held on March 8, to reflect on progress made, to call to accelerating women’s equality and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities. It is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
The theme for the 2021 International Women’s Day is “Choose to challenge”. The idea of the theme is to get everyone-Men and Women to call out gender bias and inequality and take concrete step to help achieve gender parity quickly – whether to help women and girls achieve their ambitions, call for gender-balanced leadership, respect and value difference, develop more inclusive and flexible cultures or root out workplace bias. Globally, individuals are pledging to move from talk to purposeful action, with men and women joining forces towards achieving this goal.
Africa Global Empowerment & Development Network (AGED-Network), being a thought leader on Women’s rights joined force with government parastatals, women groups, CSOs and media to help women advance and realize their limitless potentials which they offer in the world. AGED-Network organized a One-day roundtable dialogue aimed at raising awareness on disparity and biasness in women access to land and its implication for Food security, with a view to get duty bearers to commit towards ending the disparity.
A communiqué was developed at the end of the dialogue.
